Day#180 – Back in the Day When I was Young, I’m Not a Kid Anymore

Hip Hop Affirmation of the Day#180

“I’M STILL BACK IN THE DAYS, BUT NOW THE YEAR IS ’87, ’88 THAT’S WHEN MY CREW AND I WERE IN JR. HIGH SCHOOL.” ~Ahmad (Back in the Day)

Affirmation of the Day: I have comfort in the rich relationships I have built over the years.

While in L.A. this weekend I had the opportunity to connect with my long time friend from Jr. High School (P.S. 189), Asia.  We have not seen each other in 19yrs, but when we connected it was like it was only yesterday and we were back in Brooklyn.  We took a trip to Roscoe’s House of Chicken N Waffles (my first time there) and had a ball playing catch up.  Of course I had to order the chicken and waffles or as it was on the menu, “Scoe’s 1/4 chiix prepared southern style, 2 waffles, our own private mix.”  I was like a kid in a candy store.  “No,” I don’t know how I will ever burn off those calories, but let me tell you, it was well worth it. (2 days later and I’m still full).

How do you reconnect with someone after 19 years, you ask?  Good ole’ facebook made it all possible.

Question of the Day: What old friend do you need to connect with?

Action of the Day: Check your travel schedule and look up an old friend in the city you will be visiting.

Run the Point from where you are, with what you have!

Mike Bruny

  1. I love chicken and waffles. The Hen House in Roxbury makes a killer batch for whenever your cholesterol lowers from Roscoe’s!

Great call to action, very doable and concrete.

  2. This was also quite an experience for me. It was just like you said, almost like no time had passed at all….I loved it and I am still very happy that we had an opportunity to do that….Thank you!
